Abstract: The aim of the study is to identify the response of some functional variables to perform the speed test for first-class referees in the soccer field, and the researchers used the descriptive approach for its suitability and the nature of the research, as the research community consisted of football referees in Nineveh governorate and for the sports season (2018-2019) of (18) The research sample was chosen by the deliberate method, which included first-class referees accredited in the records of the Central Referees Committee in the Iraqi Football Association (6) arena referees with a percentage of representation from the original community of a percentage of (33.33%), and the researchers reached The following conclusions:

1- The performance of the (speed) test of the arena referees has a clear effect on the (VE, TV and RR) variables compared to the rest time.

2- The performance of the (speed) test of the arena referees has a clear effect on the heart rate (HR) variable compared to the rest time.

The researchers recommended the following:

1- The two researchers recommend fitness coaches for referees to take into account the findings of the two researchers in preparing training curricula in a way that suits the functional variables.

2- The two researchers recommend fitness coaches for referees to measure the number of heart beats HR in relation to the development of the circulatory system and to know the loads on the assistant referee and to guide it in a way that serves the training approach, by distributing the training intensity on the basis of the pulse.

3- The trained researchers recommend giving physical exercises that increase the strength and flexibility of the muscles between the ribs, the diaphragm muscles and the abdominal muscles to develop the respiratory capacity of the arena rulers.

Key words: response – functional variables – speed test – first-class arena referees – football.
