The research aims to reveal the impact of the Woods model and the method used in acquiring football refereeing skills among third-year students in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Salahaddin University. The research sample was determined from third-year students in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Salahaddin University. It was randomly selected and divided into experimental and control groups, and the normal distribution of the research sample in the refereeing test, which is a fundamental condition for extracting results, was confirmed.According to parametric statistical tests, the equivalence between the members of the two groups was ensured, and the control of extraneous variables was confirmed by providing internal and external validity for the research experiment. The research tool consisted of an observation form to evaluate the specified judging axes, and the objectivity, validity, and reliability of the form were ensured. The observation was conducted by three experts in the field of football teaching. After collecting and processing the data using appropriate statistical methods, represented by the t-test for related and independent samples, the research results were obtained. Based on these results, a set of conclusions were drawn, the most important of which were:
1. The experimental group that studied according to the Woods model outperformed the control group that studied according to the method used in the football judging test.T
eaching according to the Woods model provides equal opportunities for students through their participation in cooperative groups, thereby considering individual differences. In light of the conclusions, the researchers recommend the necessity of adopting the Woods model in teaching football for the third stage in colleges of physical education and sports sciences due to its significant impact on increasing achievement, acquiring skills, and retaining information in the cognitive structure.
