Abstract

The research aims to construct a cognitive achievement test for the rules of handball for fourth-year students in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the College of Basic Education, University of Mosul. The researchers used the survey method, and the research community was intentionally determined, represented by fourth-year students in the Departments and Colleges of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for the academic year 2020-2021. The construction sample consisted of 30 students from the fourth-year students in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the College of Basic Education, University of Mosul.A sample of 20 students from the fourth-year Physical Education and Sports Science Department at the College of Basic Education, Al-Mustansiriya University, was selected. The tool to be developed was the cognitive achievement test for the handball game law for fourth-year students in the Physical Education and Sports Science Department at the College of Basic Education, Mosul University. The researchers ensured the scientific foundations in the preparation of the research tool and conducted statistical analysis of the test items to ensure the scientific conditions for the scale items were met. Using appropriate statistical methods, the researchers concluded that the final version of the cognitive achievement test for the handball game law consists of 51 items. The researchers recommended several points, the most important of which were:

1. The necessity of adopting the cognitive achievement test by teachers in evaluating fourth-year students in handball. 
2. The necessity of applying the test on other samples to ensure the validity of the prepared test.
