Achieving sustainable development in sports facilities can achieve the three goals of sustainable development, namely (environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity), through the availability of several components, including proper administrative performance, the use of information systems to solve problems, a focus on both processes and outcomes, and the development of human resources. Sustainable development has become an urgent and essential necessity for all administrative bodies, as it represents a fundamental field in the specialization of business management. Due to the lack of a scale for sustainable development in sports facilities, the researcher decided to construct a scale dedicated to this purpose.
Research Objectives:
The research aims to achieve the following:
-
Build a scale for sustainable development in sports facilities in Arab clubs and sports institutions.
-
Identify the reality of applying the conditions and domains of sustainable development in the Arab sports clubs and institutions under study.
Methodology:
The researcher used the descriptive approach with a survey method on a sample from the research population, which included governmental and private sports clubs and institutions totaling (537) facilities in some cities of Arab countries (the Republic of Iraq, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Bahrain, the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Sultanate of Oman, and the State of Palestine). These facilities represent governmental and private sports clubs and institutions in those countries. A random selection of (104) sports facilities was made, representing 19.366% of the research population, which consists of (537) facilities. The exploratory sample included (14) sports facilities representing the seven countries, with (2) facilities from each country outside the main application sample. The construction sample included (56) sports facilities representing the seven countries, with (8) facilities from each country randomly selected from the original research population, constituting 53.846% of the original research population.
Scale Domains:
The scale domains were identified as the following five areas:
-
Domain 1: Modern sustainable management systems for the institution.
-
Domain 2: Modern operational systems for the institution (education, training, and educational) with quality specifications.
-
Domain 3: Sustainable architectural design of the institution.
-
Domain 4: Environmental dimension, sustainable consumption, and waste recycling.
-
Domain 5: The institution obtaining an accredited ISO certification.
The scale initially included (72) items distributed across the five domains. After removing (12) items, the final version of the scale consisted of (60) items distributed across the five domains, with five-dimensional response alternatives, except for the fifth domain, which is subject to a binary evaluation scale.
