Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the extent to which teachers employ modern teaching strategies for physical education in the Mafraq District Education Directorate. The descriptive survey method was used to collect data, with the research population consisting of 187 male and female teachers. The study included a sample of 58 male and female teachers. The researchers relied on a questionnaire as a means of data collection, which consisted of 52 items distributed across seven main areas: brainstorming strategy, problem-solving strategy, cooperative learning strategy, guided discovery strategy, role-playing strategy, multiple intelligences strategy, and concept mapping strategy. The data were processed using a statistical software program.Statistical analysis for social sciences (SPSS) was conducted, and the validity and reliability of the scale (questionnaire) were confirmed. Arithmetic means, standard deviations, and three-way ANOVA were used. The results showed that the degree of teachers' appreciation of the reasons for the extent to which physical education teachers employ modern teaching strategies in teaching the subject in the schools of Mafraq District was significant. The results also indicated statistically significant differences between the average ratings of the sample members in evaluating the extent to which physical education teachers employ modern teaching strategies. The modern teaching strategies in teaching the subject in the schools of Al-Mafraq District are statistically attributed to the gender variable in favor of females, and to the educational qualification variable in favor of postgraduate studies, with no significant differences regarding the experience variable. The study recommended holding training courses for physical education teachers during service on how to use modern teaching strategies in teaching the subject, and reconsidering the bachelor's, postgraduate, and diploma programs for students of physical education colleges to include specialized courses in teaching strategies.
