Sports confidence and its relationship with sports courage among Taekwondo youth in the clubs of Nineveh Governorate

Abstract

The research aims to: identify the level of sports confidence and the level of sports courage, and to identify the relationship between the level of sports confidence and the level of sports courage among Taekwondo juniors in the clubs of Nineveh Governorate. The researcher used the descriptive method with correlational studies due to its suitability and nature of the research. The research community consisted of 150 Taekwondo juniors from the clubs of Nineveh Governorate, representing 100%. The research sample consisted of 100 players representing 4 clubs in Taekwondo, namely: Nineveh Club, Nineveh Workers Club, Sinjar Club, and Mosul Club, representing 66.66%. The researcher used the Sports Confidence Scale and the Sports Courage Scale. To achieve the current research objectives, statistical methods were used, which were calculated using the SPSS computer program, including: arithmetic mean and standard deviation.The standard, Pearson correlation coefficient, test-retest reliability, and one-sample t-test. The researcher reached the following results: Taekwondo juniors in the clubs of Nineveh Governorate exhibit a high level of sports confidence and sports courage. There is a statistically significant correlation between the level of sports confidence and the level of sports courage among Taekwondo juniors in the clubs of Nineveh Governorate. The researcher recommended encouraging coaches and the Youth and Sports Directorates.Iraqi clubs should organize lectures and educational courses on the concepts of sports confidence and sports courage, conduct more studies related to the concepts of sports confidence and sports courage for clubs in the provinces of Iraq, and prepare psychological programs for players that can enhance sports confidence and raise the level of sports courage for players in the clubs of the provinces of Iraq.
